Yi 4k+ Paintball Action Camera Review

Yi 4k+ Paintball Action Camera Review

Top on the list of the best paintball action camera is the Yi 4k+ Paintball Action Camera.

This camera has tons of features and it’s priced reasonably. It even comes with the external housing. I do suggest using that since it will protect it from the paintball hits you’re going to encounter on the field.

It has various shooting resolutions 720p at 240 frames per second, 1080p at 120 frames per second, 2.7 K at 60 frames per second and 4k at 60 frames per second which is quite awesome.

I’m quite impressed by the fact that it can actually do 4k at 60 frames per second. Even most of the full frame cameras on market do not have this feature. It does have electronic video stabilization and it does it at 4k at 30 frames per second. It does a pretty good job.

It does have voice commands feature but as I said on the previous cameras on the list just turn this feature off during playing.

The battery life is actually really good. Batteries are swappable so if you have some spares with you, you’re definitely going to last a day. You can also use the app to change settings preview videos, access event settings and so on but you could also use the touchscreen on the back of the screen to access those settings as well.

Also, you can even preview and scrub through the video if you want to see a specific moment in time during gameplay. The camera weighs 3.4 ounces with the battery installed and I would suggest mounting this camera to the top of the mask.

Next on our list is the GoPro Hero 5 Black Paintball Action Camera.

At first, you could tell the ceiling is a lot different from previous models and it’s waterproof without the need for housing. But for paintball, I would highly suggest buying the external housing protector during gameplay.

It does have various shooting resolutions 720p at 240 frames per second, 1080p at 120 frames per second, 2.7 K at 60 frames per second and 4k at 30 frames per second which is pretty good.

The electronic video stabilization is really nice as well but like its little brother, it could only utilize this feature up to 2.7 K. It’s just too bad you couldn’t use a full sensor and get some nice stabilized 4k footage again.

This does have voice commands feature. Just turn this feature off already during gameplay as it can be a nuisance. Battery life is decent as well on this one but the best part it has is that the batteries are swappable. If you bought enough spares you’ll have no problem lasting the day.

Now the GoPro app is quite handy. It does allow you to connect to the camera directly and change advanced settings access videos and stuff like that but you could also do this by using the touchscreen on the back of the camera.

With a battery installed it does weigh 4.2 ounces which is not too bad and I highly suggest mounting this camera on the top of your mask.

Sony FDRX3000 Paintball Action Camera Review

Sony FDRX3000 Paintball Action Camera Review

That brings me to the next great paintball action camera on our list- the Sony FDR X 3000. Sony is known for producing some world-class cameras and this one definitely fits the bill.

It’s not waterproof or shockproof by itself so you will need to use the waterproof housing that comes with it especially for those lovely paintball hits you’re going to count on the field.

It does have various shooting resolutions 720p at 240 frames per second, 1080p at 120 frames per second and 4k at 30 frames per second which is pretty good. Another neat feature it has is optical stabilization which is a preferred way of stabilizing video over the electronic video stabilization feature in the other cameras on our list.

This camera does give you full 4k at 30 frames per second stabilized video which is awesome. Battery life is pretty good so, with a few spare batteries on hand you’ll be able to last the day with no problem.

The Sony action app is okay but it does lack some basic features but it is useful.

Sony FDR X 3000 does weigh 4.1 ounces with the battery installed. I personally suggest mounting this camera to the side of the mask as it isn’t that practical to mount anywhere else.

GoPro Hero 5 Session Paintball Action Camera Review

GoPro Hero 5 Session Paintball Action Camera Review

Next, on our list, we have the GoPro Hero 5 session. It is basically a 1 x 1 x 1-inch cube and it’s definitely the smallest and most versatile on our list.

It has various shooting resolutions 720p at 120 frames per second, 1080p at 90 frames per second, 2.7 K 48 frames per second and 4k at 30 frames per second which is pretty good.

The video stabilization is alright. It’s not perfect but it’s definitely alright however it only utilizes this feature up to 2.7 K. It just sucks you can’t do 4k stabilized video which would have been pretty awesome.

It does have the voice commands, however, I do suggest turning this feature off with all the random yelling going on in the field. You do run the risk of your recording stop during gameplay.

Battery life is not bad but it’s an internal non-removable battery so you cannot swap the batteries as needed.

The GoPro app is handy on this one because you can quickly navigate and change settings instantly so that’s something you may want to take advantage of before or after you’re playing especially if you need to switch settings as needed during gameplay.

It weighs 2.6 ounces making it the lightest camera on our list. I do suggest mounting this camera on the top of the mask but you can get away with mounting it on the side of your mask.

Drift Ghost 4k Paintball Action Camera Review

Drift Ghost 4k Paintball Action Camera Review

Now that brings me to the last camera of the best paintball action camera 2023 list and that is the Drift Ghost 4k.

It is very rugged and small by design and it can definitely take a beating.

It has various shooting resolutions like 720p at 240 frames per second, 1080p at 120 frames per second, 2.7 K at 60 frames per second and 4k at 30 frames per second which is pretty good.

The electronic video stabilization is really good as well. It’s just too bad you can only utilize this feature at 1080p and not in the full 4k sensor.

Battery life is okay but for a full day of paintball, you’ll definitely need a few spares. With the battery installed, it weighs 4.3 ounces which isn’t too bad.

The optimal mounting spot for this camera would be on the side of the mask as it’s really not too feasible to be mounted anywhere else unless you’re mounting it on your paintball gun for a secondary angle.
